Why I Changed my Blog Name

What happened to Minimalist Finance?

Some of you may have noticed that I went on a bit of a blogging hiatus these past few weeks. After about a year of blogging about finances and paying off debt, I started to get an itch to write about other aspects of my life but would hold myself back because it didn’t fall under the personal finance category.

After going back and forth on whether to keep the blog strictly personal finance or incorporate more of my personal life, I made the decision to rebrand my blog and include more personal & lifestyle posts.

This new blog will still remain about 80% personal finance, as that is the topic I enjoy reading and blogging about. I will still be posting my monthly debt payoff reports and writing about any financial tips I learn along the way. But I will also be throwing in a few lifestyle and design related posts every now and then.

This year I want to dive into writing more about Minimalism. I didn’t get into much of this topic last year and there are a few things I’ve learned that I would like to share.

Ultimately, I hope to make this space into something that encourages other people, who are also on their debt free journey, live a more intentional life by sharing bits and pieces of mine. I have a few goals I’ve set for 2017 and am excited to see what’s to come.

Amanda graduated architecture school in 2012 with approximately $24k in student loans. Soon after, she financed a car a year later and ended up with a total of $40,000.00 in debt at the end of 2013. After being introduced to the Total Money Makeover book by Dave Ramsey she completely changed her views on personal finance and decided to stop borrowing money and focus on becoming debt free. She is Debt Free as of October 2017.
